Week 13
Forming and casting
For this week I had a plan to make mould for cake, some creative one like in shape of lime or something. But as always there was a restriction " The mould should fit into a 5x5x2 cm size and a volume of 50 ml."
Flower petal
In the beginning of my final project I did experiments with free-form soldering and needed mould where it could be done. For some reason I thought that silicon mould would be good for it (no, just no..). and I found some already dried flower petals - Yes, if you want to make mould of something organic it should be dried or lyophilised.
I DIYed cutboard box for my petal and used Dragon Skin 10 for the mould. Firstly I poured some amound of Dragon Skin into the box, then put there petal and poured rest of the liquid. After it hardened I took scalpel and began the journey to find my petal. At this point you feel like some archeologist trying to find fossil of prahistoric creature, you don't really see though, you don't know if your next cut will be fatal or not.
Conclusion
Final mould had shape and a bit texture of original petal, maybe I will use it for casting flower petals from resin.
